Dear Friends,
As Dhirubhai Ambani once said,” There is no invitation to make profit. Assess the situation and make the best of it.” The above quotation suits so well for stock market traders. We were so sure of a 10% fall and were writing about the same since a fortnight. When the fall actually came it was ferocious.
What is the similarity between Dlf,Unitech,Suzlon,Rcom, Parasvnath, Omaxe, Pantaloon, Sobha developers, Hdil, PSTL and almost forty another companies. Most of these companies have faced a severe crash crunch and have passed resolutions or are in the process of passing resolutions to raise further funds. In case of DLF and SUZLON it was a promoter sell of shares. In other cases the companies are trying to hardsell their paper for the cash using the OIB process. The problem I believe has only started with too many QIP offerings and too less demand for the same. It was not unexpected when last week Goldman sacs sold 1 crore shares of Unitech. Shares. I am not 100% sure as of now but things have again started looking fishy in some of these stocks.
I really don’t know why Air India is called Maharaja. If its financial position is anything to go by I would like to call it an old Indian ruler who didn’t curtailed his expenses even after he lost his empire. It is shocking to see the perilous state of the merged flagship carrier. Moreover it is unbelievable that it was headed by the likes of Rahul Bajaj and Ratan Tata during the late 1980’s. If current downturn in aviation industry lasts for more then two years we will surely see some of these companies liquidating. One shouldn’t forget the outcome of NEPC Airways and the Dalmiya airlines in early 1990’s. I wont put my money on Kingfisher and Jet. Even if they are able to sell 26% or 51% stake in their airways I wont buy the same J.
One should keep a watch on the monsoons. As per the meteorological department it has been 47% below normal in June. If it continues the FMCG and other rural based stocks will be hot sell. At the same time lets pray for good rains as that’s what we are expected to do for rains after six decades of independence.
